Pre-Workshop To-Do's
1. iPlant User Account
- Get your user account here: user.iplantcollaborative.org
2. Atmosphere Access (For Module 6)
- Once you have your iPlant account, go to https://user.iplantcollaborative.org/dashboard/ and under Available Services, request access to Atmosphere. Indicate that you are attending a workshop when you are asked for justification.
3. UA HPC Access (for Module 8)
- Get your free account at http://rc.arizona.edu/hpc-htc/using-systems/request-sponsor.
Note: If you are not a PI, you will need to be sponsored by your PI. Details for how to request and sponsor an HPC account: http://rc.arizona.edu/hpc-htc/using-systems/request-sponsor
Once your HPC account has been approved, make sure to test that you can log into the HPC: http://rc.arizona.edu/hpc-htc/using-systems/connecting
Also, this workshop assumes that you are familiar with how to use the linux command line and a common linux text editor (e.g., vi, pico/nano). If you are not familiar with the linux command line and how to use SSH, you can practice using any number of tutorials found on the web (http://linuxcommand.org/).
4. Laptop
You will need to bring your own WiFi enabled laptop to the workshop. Please be sure your laptop has the following:
- VNC Viewer: Download the DMG (for MAC) or exe (for PC): http://www.realvnc.com/download/viewer/
- Java: Please have JAVA installed and enabled (help)
- Browser: Please have an up-to-date web browser (Recommended Firefox or Safari )
