Survey of iPlant
We will go (briefly, don't worry) over this talk I gave at a recent community workshop so I can introduce the iPlant project to you at an overview level.
Discovery Environment Introduction
We will be using the pre-release version of Discovery Environment 1.8 as it has the updated UI we are rolling out on sep 10. It is available at:
http://dapple.iplantcollaborative.org/de/
We have not updated our tutorial materials yet to reflect the new UI, but the changes from 1.6.x are generally intuitive. We will go through the first bits of our RNAseq tutorial so that you may familiarize yourself with the iPlant workbench
Atmosphere Introduction
You all will likely not yet have access to Atmosphere (we grant it on a user-by-user basis due to resource constraints) so I will run through a usage example. You can see examples of some of the UI for Atmosphere in the RNAseq tutorial.
iPlant Data Services
We are likely to have many in attendance who wish to upload their own data. I will go through the multiple access modes for the iPlant Data Store
- Within the Discovery Environment
- Within Atmosphere
- One's local desktop computer
- Server-to-server
- Not covered: The iPlant API
