Andreas Kretz:
Andreas is the CEO and founder of Learn Data Engineering, a platform that offers data engineering academies and coaching. He also hosts a Youtube channel and podcast that help aspiring data engineers and scientists gain the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in the field. Kretz is an open science advocate and specific tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka. His abundant tutorials and videos allow users to gain hands on experience in the data engineering field. Kretz is all about helping others navigate the seemingly complex world of data science and engineering.
Katherine Johnson:
The name Katherine Johnson might seem familiar and it should. As the first woman to be credited on a research report for NASA, she helped create a future for women in data science. Johnson is most famously known for hand-checking the orbital equations for the Friendship 7 spaceflight being directly asked for by John Glenn himself. Katherine’s contributions paved the way for space flight, which had large impacts in the area of operating systems and other software.
Retrospective:
Good: Presentation was well-timed and covered the topic, teamwork and tasks were well distributed. Despite things being slightly last minute, we got on top of things and got the work done quickly
Bad: Could use more sources. Define methods of communication during class.
Ugly: Member of group was not in communication. This member did not show up for presentation (might have dropped the class)
Do differently: Meet sooner and delegate parts of the project sooner.
