Release Notes – Freyja

This release updates the infrastructure that Atmosphere uses to interact with the cloud and the user interface.

Improvements and Changes

UI

  • New functions for instances can now be:
    • suspended/resumed
    • rebooted
    • resized
    • shutdown/started
  • Settings screen allows users to switch cloud providers.
  • Settings screen provider modules provide overall summary of user's instances, volumes, and resource usages for each.
  • Compact menu in top left of header provides quick provider-switching capability.
  • Quotas for volume capacity and volume count displayed to user during volume creation.
  • User can request more resources from New Instance screen or a specific Instance screen.
  • UI handles API request failures more gracefully and displays specific error messages to users.

Service

  • New RESTful API
  • Improved the email system. We now CC the sender on requests.
  • New mosh is installed on boot.
  • Many additional improvements and bug fixes to our boot script.
  • Fixed shellinabox so it now works with more keys. See the shellinabox issue.
  • Infrastructure improvements to support multiple clouds. Look for further improvements here next release.
  • Total CPU time is now available to users.
  • Monitoring works across multiple clouds.
  • Our code is now open source on github.
