1. Review of prototype. Adam posted a revised prototype last week. Comments?
2. Face-to-face meeting in February. Mike S is unavailable either Feb 6 or Feb 13 weekend. Should we try for Feb 20? Either the week leading up to that weekend, or over the weekend itself.

  • Discussion of the prototype: How to deploy the prototype? Web enabled vs Desktop application
  • All Hands Meeting on 1/15/10 – waiting for this meeting to get further feedback on what our role will be supporting
  • There needs to be a level of “granularity” in the process where we define what we are doing, what needs to be done to achieve it. A timeline in weeks and months would be helpful in providing a master plan to the iPlant leadership. The dates do not have to be concrete or absolute.
  • Timelines and Actions:
    • Need to have additional programming time
    • Recruiting post-doc position – may not be feasible might be better to add another programmer position. An alternative could be to work with another faculty collaborator.
    • Possible increase in Adam’s time to almost 50%
    • Moving from use case to product there is a hole in the interface, how do we make it attractive and user friendly, increase it’s viz appeal? Ami Becker has background in this and will be called upon later this month.
  • ACTION: Members of this group should brainstorm specific ideas about programmers or other faculty collaborators they know of and send those ideas to Karen or Mike S.

Workshop

  • Tentative date for the face to face meeting is the week of February 15, 2010. Travel day would be on Monday, Jan 15, and the meeting would be a day and a half Tues Jan 16 to Weds Jan 17.
  • Tentative meeting location in Austin TX although other locations can be considered.
  • Approximate attendees - 20 people
  • Mary Margaret, Tina and Natalie will work on the technical items and logistics for the meeting.
  • ACTION: Karen and Mike will work on a high level agenda and a list of attendees

  • The next meeting will be on January 26, 2010.
