Nicole

  • Follow up with John Fonner to confirm Nathan Cassler and Peder Bocher have access to Maverick.
  • Relay information to others in iPlant so the Extended Collaborative Support request review can be completed.

Brian Enquist

  • Summarize and circulate the plan for the Western Forest modeling so the larger group can provide input.

Nathan 

  • Begin benchmarking. (getting set up)
  • Pull in Peder so he learns as you do. (scheduling)
  • Apply metadata tags as data are put into the iPlant Data Store (which is built on iRODS).
  • Contact Nirav Merchant <nirav@email.arizona.edu> (esp. for help with icommands and Data Store) or John Fonner <jfonner@tacc.utexas.edu> (TACC help) as needed, copying Martha and Nicole Hopkins <nicole@iplantcollaborative.org>.

  • Send Brian M and Brian E information about applying for an XSEDE account. (DONE)

2014.04.08 Action Items

  • Nathan, Peder
    • Get TACC accounts. (DONE)
    • Run maxent models on a test set of species at TACC. (getting started)
  • Nathan
    • Add (to this Google doc) the specifics about the computational requirements for the climate data that is being used for modeling Western forests.
    • Share the GIT repository with the modeling group. (DONE)
    • Show John Fonner <jfonner@tacc.utexas.edu> the scripts from John Donoghue’s TACC runs. (DONE)
  • Brian McGill
    • Contact Brian Enquist to close the loop on the modeling discussions, esp. regarding frequency of time slices for projections in Western forest models.
  • John Fonner 
    • Point the group to tutorials for getting started working on Maverick or Stampede.
    • Ask about using the iPlant allocation for development runs
  • Nicole
    • Check on Brian McGill’s account (DONE)
    • Let them know the outcome of Extended Collaborative Request review on Friday.
  • Martha 
    • Send information on iPlant registration, Data Store and icommands
    • Schedule iPlant overview call
    • Send information about registering for XSEDE accounts when the time is right.

Martha

  • Send out the link to the wiki and a link to registering for an iPlant user account to be able to edit the wiki. (DONE)

2014.03.11 Action Items

  • Brian - get request for iPlant help in - ASAP
  • Corey - evaluate best MaxEnt parameters and how to modify R code - before end March
  • Corey - come up to speed on spatial filters
  • Nathan - begin work in April (per his schedule and also BIEN 3 analytical view availability)
  • All - commence weekly or biweekly calls in April - Martha can you help with this?
  • Martha schedule calls.

2014.03.07 Action Items

  • Martha: Send the group the information on requesting Extended Collaborative Support from iPlant. (DONE)
  • Brian M, Nathan: Take the lead on drafting responses to the request form questions. Submit it by March 19.
  • Brad: Give Nathan access to BIEN site so he can see John's documents
    • When appropriate, give him access to the BIEN database (view).
  • Brian M, Nathan, Naia, Cory: Have a Skype call to discuss modeling and the pipeline on Tuesday, March 11th at 11 AM Eastern, 4 PM Denmark,  9 AM 8AM Mountain time. ** Send Brian McGill your Skype IDs.
    • Cory: Create a list of questions about the modeling done previously and ideas about what could be done next.
    • Naia, Brian M: Create list of things that could be improved, streamlined in John's scripts.
  • Nathan: Be prepared to begin coding the first of April.
  • Martha: Setup a biweekly call (after next week's call).
