ASR-MP
Name: Ancestral State Reconstruction by Maximum Parsimony |
Start date: 3/15/2010 |
Target Release: early 11Q3 |
Status: Taking off |
Lead: Naim |
Background
Ancestral state reconstruction, using parsimony methods is a bottleneck for many people interested in reconstructions on large trees (not the 20K+ trees but trees of 1000s of terminals) even for single traits. iPlant would profit from having different methods available in the DE so that it can serve the broadest community of phylogeneticists.
Project Description
Integrate the code to do max parsimony reconstructions on large trees from Joe Felsenstein's package PHYLIP and adapt it to the DE. Will be part of the integration Workshop (June 6-8 2011)
Deliverables
A tool available in the DE to perform Ancestral State Reconstructions by Maximum Parsimony.
