Final Deliverables
Deliverables
Peer-reviewed Scientific Journal Paper(s)
Comparison of hydrologic flows following high-severity buffelgrass fires versus lower severity native vegetation fires.
- Derived from Jon's hydrological modeling.
- Use the predicted max dNBR surface model to characterize maximum burn severity at given elevations and northness levels.
Identification of values at risk within Saguaro National Park (SNP) and adjacent wildland-urban interface (WUI) communities.
- Values at risk will be identified as one of the final steps of the project
- Determinations are based on the locations of peak flood stages, fire intensity/severity, and location to current buffelgrass infestations.
- Values to consider:
- Historical NPS Buildings
- Manning Cabin
- Happy Valley Lookout
- Grass Shack
- Douglas Spring Campground
- Major Roads
- X-9
- Camino Loma Alta
- Old Spanish Trail
- Cochise Springs
- Pistol Hill
- Broadway
- Speedway
- Escalante
- Saguaro Loop Dr.
- Trail system
- Tanque Verde Ridge
- X-9 Madrona
- Cowhead Saddle
- Happy Valley Saddle
- Rincon Peak
- North Slope
- Italian Spring
- Grass Shack
- Devil's Bathtub
- Heartbreak Ridge
- Historical NPS Buildings
Identification of high-priority watersheds for fuel treatment and for protection from wildfire.
- Plan to use AGWA to delineate watersheds.
- Derived from both Jon's hydrological modelling and Tyson's predicted dNBR models
Recommendations for enhancing fire management and suppression decision-making.
- The topographic flammability index paper (submitted 1/12 to International Journal of Wildland Fire) serves as an example of enhancing management decisions based on topographic drivers.
Provision of a baseline analysis to make more effective and efficient use of future BAER activities.
Attachment of GIS geodatabase layers.
- Final deliverable to include all model outputs and LiDAR derived surface models in common GIS formats.
